Stacktape is a PaaS 2.0 that deploys to your own AWS account

Containers, Lambdas, RDS, Redis & 30+ other services

Risk-free: extend, override or eject anytime

From scratch to production-grade AWS infra in a day. No DevOps knowledge required

Works with any frontend or backend technology

The old way

Option 1

Platform as a Service (PaaS) 1.0

Limited in what and where you can deploy.

Up to 8x more expensive. Surprise bills are very common. Egress bills get horrible at scale.

Advanced features, such as private networking, are available only on expensive tiers.

You're always 1 unsupported use-case away from having to migrate your infrastructure to AWS anyway.

Option 2

In-house DevOps

You spend 100s or 1000s of hours configuring IaC, deployment scripts and CI/CD pipelines.

It takes weeks to months to deploy your app.

Developer productivity suffers as they can't make changes by themselves.

Maintaining, fixing and upgrading your custom setup is a full time job. And you might not get it right.

Now

Stacktape

Supports ANY frontend or backend app.

Well-architected and battle-tested AWS infrastructure from day 1.

Cost-optimized infra and transparent pricing.

Can accommodate even the most advanced use-cases, without breaking your bank. Scales with you, even up to Series B/C  question-mark

Stacktape

First production-grade deployment in 24 hours

Well-architected and battle-tested AWS infrastructure from day 1.

Significantly improves development velocity, as developers can deploy by themselves.

Maintained by a team of AWS experts, available to you with 8 minutes average response time.

Easiest Infrastructure as a Code on the planet

1.

Start with a preset that generates the backbone of your configuration

Deploy the way that works for you

Fully-featured internal developer platform

Logs & metrics

Easily access logs and metrics from your containers, lambda functions, databases, load balancers, and more.

Multiple AWS accounts

Deploy to any number of AWS accounts. Dev, staging, prod, or your customer's.

Private networking and VPC

Increase security by not exposing your services and databases to the internet. Then use a bastion server (jump host) to perform management tasks.

Shell access to deployed containers

Securely connect to your running containers to debug issues, run commands, and more.

Dev mode

Iterate much faster by running your lambda functions and containers in development mode. No need to redeploy to test changes in your code.

Alarms

Get notified when something unexpected happens within your infrastructure. Send alerts to Slack, MS teams or email.

Automatic packaging

Build containers and lambda functions directly from source code. Use optimized Stacktape buildpack, Nixpacks, Paketo buildpack or your own Dockerfile.

Cost explorer

Access detailed costs breakdown for every stack, even in multiple AWS accounts.

Scripts and hooks

Create re-usable scripts (migrations, tests, etc.) and run them as a hook (pre/post deploy) or as a command.

Secrets

Manage secrets from Stacktape console and reference them easily in your infrastructure config.

Organization activity

See all changes your team is doing within your infrastructure, and access corresponding logs.

"Stacktape (the product) and Stacktape (the team) have helped us move extremely fast. They abstract away so much of the complexity of AWS, and let us focus on our application logic, instead of infrastructure configuration. The team is second to none, hopping in to be true partners with us on our development journey. We would not be where we are today without Stacktape. "

Stacktape has been a game-changer for Lastmyle, providing a secure and intuitive way to manage our AWS deployments. It's allowed our small team to efficiently handle environments using GitOps, all while keeping a tight rein on costs.

"As a startup founder & CTO, every hour is crucial. With Stacktape, we fast-tracked our AWS deployment process. Our development and production environments were operational in just two days. Stacktape's speed and efficiency have been game-changing for us"

FAQ

Can I leverage my AWS Activate credits and AWS free tier while using Stacktape?
Absolutely.
Which Git providers are supported?
Github, Gitlab & Bitbucket. For these providers, we support automatic push-to-deploy & preview (ephemeral) deployments.
You can also use any other git provider or CI/CD pipeline if you leverage Stacktape CLI.
We also provide a guide on how to integrate Stacktape with yourown CI/CD pipeline.
Can I use Stacktape without any AWS or DevOps experience?
Yes.
Stacktape uses only developer-friendly abstractions. It does not assume you have any AWS or DevOps knowledge.
The documentation can guide you through any easy or complex task you might come across.
We also try to overexplain everything to eliminate any confusion.
How does Stacktape work under the hood?
To deploy your applications, Stacktape leverages AWS CloudFormation.
To improve the deployment times, Stacktape also frequently bypasses CloudFormation and deploys your workloads directly, making the deployment process as fast as possible.
You can use Stacktape via console, where we automatically trigger the deployment process inside AWS CodeBuild pipeline for you.
Or you can install self-contained Stacktape CLI to deploy your applications from your local system.
Why doesn't Stacktape use Kubernetes for container orchestration?
Kubernetes on AWS has 2 distinct disadvantages:
  • Complexity - even managed Kubernetes is significantly less user-friendly than Stacktape-managed flavor of ECS.
  • Cost - A single AWS EKS cluster (without any worker nodes) costs $72/month. As opposed to that, the "ECS control plane" is 100% free.
ECS by itself is powerful enough to handle a huge majority of use-cases (including things like blue/green and canary deployments).
Support for Kubernetes clusters is currently under development.
What happens when I decide to stop using Stacktape?
Your applications won't stop working and you can still keep using your generated AWS CloudFormation templates.
You just lose the benefits of Stacktape - you'll need to do DevOps on your own.
