Stacktape vs.
Kubernetes

Kubernetes (and the accompanying tools created around it) is a great solution to a problem most of the small to medium business don't have. Most importantly, it comes with a substantial operational, configurational, architectural and financial overhead.

Stacktape is made specifically for SMBs, startups and non-mission-critical enterprise apps. It supports almost everything that a custom Kubernetes solution would, but is 2 orders of magnitude more simple.

DevOps-free

Stacktape is made for developers. It does not require DevOps or infrastructure experts to use it.

Fully managed

All resources deployed by Stacktape are fully managed, removing a lot of operational overhead from your shoulders.

More capabilities

Stacktape handles all of the common tasks required to develop and run cloud applications, including application deployments, packaging, testing, debugging & much more.

Optimized build process

Stacktape supports zero-config, heavily optimized parallel builds with content-aware caching.

Programmatic SDK

Easily build complicated deployment pipelines in your favorite programming language.

VS code extension

Stacktape extension validates and autocompletes your configuration files and comes with a built-in documentation.

Development studio (GUI)

Stacktape development studio makes it easy to debug, test and manage your applications.

Local & Remote development mode

Stacktape allows you to run your workloads locally in the same environment as they run in production. It also allows you to run lambda functions in the cloud with the same experience as running them locally.

Visual stack builder

If you don't like writing YAML, Stacktape allows you to configure your stacks using a graphical interface.

Not open-source

Stacktape is a freemium product. While it's not completely free, it comes with a generous free tier that works for small to mid size projects and teams.

Smaller community

Being a new product, Stacktape does not have a large community yet.

Public cloud only

Stacktape is not usable with on-premise infrastructure.
